A Limit Holdem Strategy Guide

Texas Limit Holdem is one of the most popular Poker games in the world today, right along with No Limit. However, the two are very different. There is more to Limit Holdem than most people realize, and to be successful a number of factors come into play.

All Poker games require patience, but that is especially true here. Your Limit Holdem strategy has to include mental fortitude and composure. In No Limit, it is fairly easy to reduce the number of players competing for the pot by raising big pre flop.

However, in Limit Holdem, the betting structure means you have to wait for the right time to make the raise, which is of course, when you grab hold of the nuts.

It is also important to remember that your Limit Holdem strategy cannot have bluffing as a major component. The reason is that players, especially early on, can afford to call or raise. Bluffing in Limit Holdem is best suited after the flop or at the turn, because the wagers are now doubled and they will be less likely to commit.

Your starting hands are crucial, and the best ones are face cards or Aces. Another thing that you have to consider in your Limit Holdem strategy is your table position. If you are the earliest, then it is advisable to play only AAs, face cards or a combination of those two, as there is no telling what the others have.

If you are in the middle, then you can go for pairs (88s or better) as well as the aforementioned face cards. If you are the last, then you have the luxury of playing more Poker hands. The reason is that you will have an idea of what the others have, based on who called, raised or folded.

After the flop, you have other options in Limit Holdem: if you have a good hand, then you can afford to be aggressive all the way to the river, since it will likely hold. If you are not sure exactly of your status, then you can call and see how the others react.

There are a lot of Limit Holdem strategies that you can implement in your game. There are a lot of books and websites devoted to it, and your success in Limit Holdem will depend entirely on your dedication to the game. The more you play, the more your skills will continue to improve.
